symbiotic visions

2025, Projection, engraved glass, wood
In collaboration with Ayenan Quinchoa Juajibioy
This work still in progress explores the hidden vitality of a fallen tree in the rainforest of Mocoa, Colombia, where two artists of different backgrounds met. Around it, Ganoderma mushrooms and surrounding plants form part of a living network. Through long-exposure uv-photography by night, the pictures reveal an unseen layer of communication, llluminating the energetic traces of these organisms as well as glass shapes placed in front of them, each engraved with either phrases from Kamëntšá philosophy or excerpts from scientific literature on plant and fungal intelligence. The shapes are derived from imaginations of consciousness. This interplay of First Nation and scientific knowledge invites to experience the forest not as passive background, but as a teacher and an active, intelligent system.
